About four years later and with a modest increase on the list price Specialized presented the ... Trek Supercaliber!!!

No, you can't find it written elsewhere, the "supine newsagents" have already told you that it's a completely different bike, that it's a completely different thing, that in the end you want it to be 12,500 euros ...

In reality, as always for Specialized everything is the result of great research and development, everything is top notch, unique and exclusive.

Sometimes it is too, but this time, the photos speak for themselves, it is impossible not to point out that the inspiration to create the new Specialized Epic really came from the Trek Supercaliber, of which at the time we wrote that that suspension scheme would have been also copied by others.

Specialized made the idea its own, modifying and improving it, also putting four years of experience to good use.

The new shock absorber is more traditional and the double adjustment is certainly nothing new.

In this the Trek shock was more innovative.

But the Specialized one allows for better adjustment of the calibration, works better and is more effective.

The 110 mm fork is in line with the market trend, which sees a slow and constant increase in suspension travel.

The frame is clearly designed for latest generation electronic groupsets.

Another breaking point, but even in this case, the market is asking for it.

The four standard sizes are really the minimum, for a 6500 euro frame kit.

Just the frame kit has an exaggerated price, but all models have a high price.

The Pro with 9 thousand euros is the entry level.

A beautiful mtb, as good as you want, but with prices devoid of any price/quality/performance logic.

Just to give an example, the "popular" Canyon Lux World Cup CFR LTD (the top, weighing only 9.8Kg) costs 7999 Euros, in practice 4500 Euros less than this Specialized, without there being an appreciable difference in quality or performance .

Despite this, the new Specialized Epic WC will have its success.

Because for the average biker Specialized is the top ...

In the end it's a new mtb, beautiful, valid, but expensive and certainly not innovative or revolutionary.

Maybe they could have done more...

Certainly after this launch phase, other models will arrive, less expensive and more interesting for the general public.

However it is an excellent evolution of the previous model, compared to which it is superior in everything, with an increased price, but not that much and in line with the Specialized price list (it's not that the previous Epic was cheaper ...).

Considering that the previous Epic was still an excellent mtb, it was easier to make a mistake than to guess its evolution.

Another nice bike from Specialized, expensive and perhaps overrated, but excellent overall and undoubtedly competitive in its category.

Without considering the price, in fact, quality and performance are at the top of the market.
