There is no doubt that in this case the correct size for the Giant Defy Advanced 1 racing bike is the ML.

In fact, I don't think he should make any particular changes to the setup of the bike as it leaves the shop.

Size L could only be taken into consideration with the desire to create a very "racing" setup, but at this point it could be too uncomfortable and tiring.

Overall, however, the correct choice is size ML and then proceed with any changes to the set-up, possibly with an attachment that is one centimeter longer.
