Bosch eBike ABS 2023 road test review Quality

Like all Bosch products, the build quality is very high and everything is done to perfection.

Compared to a similar abs product in the automotive sector, everything is miniaturized.

Despite this, it is clear that doubts may arise for real off-road use, especially due to the presence of various cables and sensors that can be easily damaged in the event of a fall or collision with the vegetation.

We think that a series of aftermarket accessories will soon arrive, as in motorcycles, to protect each element most exposed to damage.

Bosch eBike ABS 2023 road test review Group

The new Bosch eBike ABS 2023 group is complete with everything and adapts to all braking systems, ultimately changing the connection between brake pump and brake caliper, which is no longer direct.

The Bosch eBike ABS group works great with the Bosch ebike instrumentation and powertrain, but we believe we will see other product mixes shortly as well.

Too bad that Bosch has not made a complete braking system.

Bosch eBike ABS 2023 road test review Guide

Nothing to complain, a decisive step forward in passive safety.

Among many useless innovations, this is the one that seems most useful to us, not so much in true off-road use, as in road and urban use, where the safety of ABS is clearly perceptible.

Operation is very similar to other ABS motorcycles or cars on the market.

Nothing changes, the operating system is the same: tone wheel, control unit, sensors, abs pump.

Honestly, the system was presented on a mtb, but on a road bike it would be even more effective.

Bosch eBike ABS 2023 road test review Performance

Overall braking remains unchanged, identical stopping distances on asphalt road, less stopping distances on wet roads.

Greater safety on off road, where however a good biker may be able to do better, but this is not always the case.

Like all ABS, this group allows even the less experienced to have excellent braking distances in all conditions.

However, the possibility of being deactivated is useful.

Bosch eBike ABS 2023 road test review Pros and cons

The new Bosch eBike ABS 2023 group was long overdue, it is not a real novelty, because several companies have been studying an abs for ebike for many years and the Bosch group was one of the most awaited news.

A new product, but already mature, reliable, with excellent performance.

A decisive improvement in passive safety and a decisive improvement in brake management.

Defects?

General complexity of the system, weight and dimensions, price, difficult maintenance and not within the reach of all mechanics.

A further step for an ebike that is not a bike but a bike with pedals, safer and more comfortable, but also much more expensive to buy and maintain.

Having said that, the ABS system is certainly useful, much better than many useless apps ...
