We respond to one of our readers who asks us for advice regarding the Wilier Filante SLR 2023 bike.

The Wilier Filante SLR 2023 road bike is a good aero road bike, or similar to an aero one.

It has a good build quality and the possibility of being customized in color.

In addition to this it also has a good availability of sizes.

Competitive performance, excellent on the plains and downhill.

It is not a hill racing bike.

Now we come to the flaws.

The price is relatively high, you pay for the nice paint and the customization, the name, but in terms of performance it is like many other similar aero bikes.

The weight, competitive for its type of bike, is not contained in absolute terms, especially for the more difficult climbs.

A high list price is often contrasted with high discounts after the first year of launch, this depreciates the value of the second-hand item.

Maintenance, like all bikes with integrated cables, is complex and expensive.

I don't know any particular anomalies, overall the bicycle is very reliable.

Conclusions.

If we look only at the technical/economic aspect, the best aero bike out there today is the new Giant Propel 2023 and alternatively the other valid Scott Foil 2023.

The other aero bikes are no less in performance, sometimes even better, perhaps, but overall, for one reason or another, they cost more, but are basically the same.

The Wilier Filnate SLR falls into this second group, it's fine, it's well made, but it costs more, at list price, than a Giant.

But if you like it, I always wonder why not buy it? Since it's valid anyway?

The rest of the other "technical-philosophical discussions" of the usual "know-it-alls", the Kryptonite with which the frame is made, the Holy Grail of the water bottle, NASA studies and the Martians, are just bar talk and marketing.

If you like it, buy it with serenity.
