Nowadays Pinarello Bolide is certainly the benchmark for the time trial bikes.
Thanks to its characteristics, it achieved a countless number of victories over the years, in particular 2 consecutive World Championships with Wiggins in 2014 and Kiryienka in 2015. From the Bolide, Pinarello derived the Bolide HR, which allowed Sir Bradley Wiggins to fix the new Hour Record with 54,526 kilometers.
From the experience and the research carried out, and continuously looking for new victories, Pinarello presents the new Bolide TT.
This new bike, born out from the peculiarities of the Bolide, allowed a further reduction of the aerodynamic drag and a significant reduction of total weight of the bicycle (framekit weight reduction greater than 350 g).
On Pinarello Bolide TT, design blends with functionality: aerodynamics, lightweight, stiffness and aesthetics characterize every single part and create a unique and inimitable shape to the bicycle.
Here the main characteristics, that can be easily noticed. The new concave down tube, that allows to reduce the gap between water bottle and frame, reducing turbulence in an essential zone of the frame; the slooping top tube with aero optimized section; the new cover of the rear brake derived from airplane industry technologies; aerodynamic front dropouts derived from the Bolide HR. Every one of these small details allow a further gain of the aerodynamics of the bike, compared to the Bolide.
Pinarello Bolide TT is made with the exclusive Torayca T1100 1K carbon, for absolute stiffness and low weight. The bike will be available for electronic groupsets, and will use integrated brakes developed by Pinarello. Italian thread bottom bracket and TwinForce technology seatpost clamp as a result of the experience of the road models.
The bike will be available in 4 sizes and it complies the UCI regulation, thus usable in international competitions.
Pinarello Bolide TT will race on May 15th in the 9th stage of the Giro d’Italia. In that race, Mikel Landa will use a special sintered titanium handlebar designed specifically for him.
For us it’s a great joy to have the opportunity to give birth to a “new creature” for Team Sky riders!
Bolide TT is the evidence of the enormous commitment that our technical staff has put in design and production of what will be the more powerful time trial frame in the world!
I’m very proud, and I’m happy that already at the Giro d’Italia some of our athletes will have the chance to use this BOLIDE! “
“What I like about Pinarello is that they combine cutting-edge engineering and creativity.
They are always looking to find new ways to improve.
The Giro d’Italia is about seeing the best bikes and the best riders, so I’m really looking forward to seeing Mikel on the new Bolide.”
SIR DAVE BRAILSFORD
“This is our seventh year working in partnership with Pinarello, and we’re very proud of that. We’ve had fantastic success in that time, but the reason the relationship between Team Sky and Pinarello works is that we don’t rest on that success.
We’re always looking ahead to see where we can gain an advantage, and the new Bolide is just the latest example of that.”
“Again, Pinarello has produced a fantastic bike. I’m so happy to use the new Bolide tomorrow in the Chianti time trial.
Knowing how much work has gone into preparing this bike for me just gives me even more motivation to achieve the best result”.
