LOOK are delighted to announce the arrival of two new gravel bikes to their range – the 765 Gravel RS and e-765 Gravel – signifying the historic French marque’s arrival in the fast-growing segment.
Made by LOOK
765 Gravel RS
Based on the 765 family of endurance road bikes, the 765 Gravel RS is constructed using a high-modulus carbon frame and fork, using LOOK’s unrivalled expertise in carbon manufacture and design in order to provide a race-bred, yet predictable, ride.
The UCI-approved frame boasts a geometry that is equally at home on the road as it is on bridleways, fire roads and even on the cyclocross course, with the inclusion of specially-designed 3D Wave seatstays to improve compliance through the rear of the bike. It holds the ‘RS’ name – Racing Sport – thanks to its high performance carbon frame composition, featuring 29% high modulus, 46% intermediate modulus, 10% high resistance and 15% specific fibres.
This design has the form of a wave shape that broadens and then narrows at both the top section of the seatstays, near the seatpost, and above the rear dropouts. This allows for 15% more vertical flexion without sacrificing lateral stiffness compared to a traditional seatstay, thereby preserving the responsiveness of the bike while at the same time improving comfort. The increased vertical flexion also delivers greater traction and control in varying gravel conditions.
The chainstays – which are 420mm long in all frame sizes – are asymmetrical with a dropped drive side stay to provide the opportunity to run either a single or double chainset, as well as wider capacity for both 700c and 650b standard wheels. The 765 Gravel RS can accommodate up to 700c x 40mm and 650b x 55mm tyres.
At the core of the frame is an oversized bottom bracket zone that’s stiff, providing efficient power transfer for racing, along with a deep headtube with integrated Direct Drive stem and headset for sharp, direct and accurate handling via a specific-to-gravel handlebar featuring a wide angle drop. The frameset is lightweight: the frame tips the scales at just 1.2kg, and the fork only 350g.
The racy credentials of the 765 Gravel RS are confirmed with fittings for four bottle cages - ideal for all-day races like Dirty Kanza - as well as brackets for a toptube ‘Bento’ style storage system. Speedy wheel changes in the heat of a race are also made easy thanks to compatibility with Mavic’s SpeedRelease axles.
Availability and prices
The LOOK 765 Gravel RS is available immediately in three builds featuring SRAM Force 1x, Shimano Ultegra and 105 groupsets.
765 Gravel RS Force 1x - €4,299
765 Gravel RS Ultegra - €3,999
765 Gravel RS 105 - €3,599
Alongside the 765 Gravel RS, LOOK are also launching the e-765 Gravel, integrating a sleek Fazua motor and battery system into the downtube.
The e-765 Gravel features a full carbon construction using 23% high modulus, 25% intermediate modulus, 37% high resistance and 15% specific fibres, and retains many of the performance features of the 765 Gravel RS, including 3D Wave seatstays for off-road comfort and integrated Direct Drive stem and headset for performance-bred handling.
Fazua’s battery and motor system is world-renowned for its integrated and lightweight design - the motor and battery adds just 4.6kg to the overall weight of the bike, with the entire machine weighing an average of 13.6kg. The motor will assist riders up to 25km/h, with four modes possible including a 400W ‘rocket mode’ selectable through the handlebar-mounted remote, while the system offers minimal resistance through the bottom bracket when rolling at faster speeds and on zero assistance mode. The pedalling sensation feels just like a non electrically-assisted bike thanks to the optimised weight distribution the Fazua system enables.
The close partnership between Fazua and LOOK has enabled the French brand to research their own power mapping profile for the electronic control unit, developed for optimum performance in a gravel riding situation following a year-long study into rider habits by LOOK.
The Fazua system has an integrated app, which allows the rider to turn your smartphone into a fully-functional bike computer, including GPS navigation, speed recording, as well as providing metrics on how they are using their battery power and motor, and temperature readings. Plus, the electrical system is completely detachable, converting the e-765 Gravel into an ordinary pedal-powered gravel bike.
