It’s indisputable how quickly the gravel segment has grown in popularity over the last five years and it only made sense that Kestrel find its spot at the top. Our product team has been fine-tuning Kestrel’s interpretation of the category and the new Kestrel TER-X will make its debut later this year.

Using our 40+ years of carbon construction expertise, we set out to create an ultra-efficient, lightweight platform that has plenty of tire clearance and performance features. The TER-X was specifically designed to meet the needs of riders looking to tackle gravel racing, off-road trail riding, or a weekend away bike packing.

In crafting the frame, we set out with two goals in mind. The first being efficiency and optimization of rider output. To accomplish this, the bottom bracket area is oversized, with asymmetrically shaped chain stays to combat pedaling and braking forces. And, an oversized headtube optimizes steering precision.

To address our second goal, ride quality, we tuned the seat stays by flattening their profile, allowing for vertical compliance and increased lateral stiffness. The seat tube features a flex zone created by incorporating a radius and specific layup which reduces high frequency vibrations commonly found on gravel/b-roads. The sculpted seat tube also improves tire clearance allowing for a 700 x 47mm tire. The fork features a progressive taper design that also helps reduce high-frequency vibrations. In addition, the fork has two water bottle cage mounts and accommodates fenders, maximizing the bike’s range and versatility.
