More and more manufacturers are using toothed belt drives for their premium models.

In particular, the belt¹s freedom from servicing, smooth running, and long service life impress manufacturers and cyclists alike. Even the furniture giant Ikea is going mobile and currently includes a bicycle with a belt drive in its online shop. Sladda - already a recipient of the Red Dot Design-Award - will gain entirely new customer groups thanks to the favorable price, and will help the belt drive to make new friends. Belt drives will also be a core topic for Continental at Eurobike (hall A6, booth 104). Three systems designed for different purposes will be on show there.

With the three product lines eco, premium, and cargo, the Conti Drive System (CDS) . the belt drive from Continental for bicycles and pedelecs - offers an optimally designed belt drive variant for every bicycle segment. The eco and premium variant are delivered with an 8 mm wide carbon belt as standard. The appearance of the CDS premium hubs has recently been upgraded - and will be on show for the first time at Eurobike. The Conti Drive System cargo designed specially for e-cargo bicycles consists of 12 mm wide aluminum / stainless steel hubs and a 12 mm carbon belt. An application example of this is the e-cargo bicycle from Hercules, which can carry a total weight of 290 kg.

Integrated battery concept for the growth market of e-bikes and pedelecs

For the growth market of e-bikes and pedelecs, Continental is presenting a fully-integrated downtube battery for the 36 volt Conti eBike system. This will be on show at Eurobike with Rose Bikes GmbH, and will enter production at Continental in 2017. This consists of a specially developed downtube frame element accommodating a battery, battery management system, and motor adapter, which manufacturers can easily integrate into their frames.

Lightweight, flexible, high security with Continental expertise

Using Continental technology, the Litelok bicycle lock from the British industrial designer Neil Barron delivers high security and flexibility. Several layers of innovative lightweight materials form the basis of this, including a customer-specific development from Continental based on a high-strength belt. Litelok - it weighs just 1.1 kilograms - is flexible, and impressively cut resistance despite the light materials. An inline lock allows it to be locked without a key, which is only required to open the lock.
